Wetumpka, Alabama is one of the fastest growing cities in the state thanks to its beauty, small town atmosphere, and close proximity to Montgomery. Rather than being what some might consider a “bedroom community”, Wetumpka offers entertainment and excitement with its historic downtown and access to the Coosa River.

Downtown events include the Christmas on the Coosa parade and celebration as well as performances by the Wetumpka Depot Players, the local community theater group.

Activities on the Coosa River include fishing, kayaking, and attending the annual Coosa River Whitewater Festival. On the shore you can mountain bike on the 12 mile Swayback Bridge Trail and attend the annual Attack on Swayback mountain bike race.

Other popular attractions and destinations include Fort Toulouse/Jackson State Historic Site, home of the annual Alabama Frontier Days event; the Riverside Entertainment Center, a casino operated by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians; and the Wetumpka impact crater, the location of a meteor impact that occurred 80 million years ago.

Brookwood is only about 10 or 15 minutes away from Wetumpka.  In Wetumpka you will find a Super Wal-Mart, grocery stores, and numerous restaurants.  Three of the best places to eat are Casa Napoli, Catfish Country, My Place, and the Music Cafe.
